Bright Star

A poem needs understanding through the senses.
The point of diving into a lake is not immediately to swim to the shore but to be in the lake,
to luxuriate in the sensation of water.
You do not work the lake out, it is a experience beyond thought.
Poetry soothes and emboldens the soul to accept the mystery.

John Keats: I had such a dream last night. I was floating above the trees with my lips connected to those of a beautiful figure, for what seemed like an age. Flowery treetops sprung up beneath us and we rested on them with the lightness of a cloud.
Fanny Brawne: Who was the figure?
John Keats: I must have had my eyes closed because I can't remember.
Fanny Brawne: And yet you remember the treetops.
John Keats: Not so well as I remember the lips.
Fanny Brawne: Whose lips? Were they my lips?

Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art -
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen masque
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors -
No - yet still stedfast, still unchangeable
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft swell and fall,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever - or else swoon in death.

See yourself

I know it's not so cool for me to mention this now
now that we're both settled and in love
but somehow I just want to know
that if things had turned out a little differently
could you see yourself with me?

there's nothing I would change in the way I live know
my choices have been right mostly
but still somehow I just want to know
that if things had turned out a little differently

could you see yourself with me?

If time is all I have I'll waste it all on you

When you're older
The memories fade
But I know I'll still feel the same
For as long as I live

Won't you say my name, one time
Please just say my name

Each day I'll turn it back
It's what the broken-hearted do
I'm tired of talking to an empty space
Of silences keeping me awake

Won't you say my name?

meant to be together

Durch Tausende von Jahren, inmitten einer Wüste der Zeit, triffst du die, die du zu treffen bestimmt bist.
Ohne Eiligkeit.
Ohne Verspätung.

(Zhang Ailing)

you know I've got an awful lot of big dreams

There's nothing that i wanna do
More than get alone and be with you
Trouble with dreams is they don't come true
And when they do they can't catch up to you

I'm walking down a lonely road
Clear to me now but i was never told
Trouble with dreams is you never know
When to hold on and when to let go

This is the life that i must lead now
Crossing fingers and wiping brow
Trouble with dreams is you can't pretend
Something with no beginning has an end

You don't need a thing from me
But i need something big from you
'cause you know i've got an awful lot of big dreams
